I woke up to find Lovi searching through the bag, muttering a string of curses as he did so.
"Lovi...? What's wrong?" I asked, sitting up.
"Some idiota I am, someone stole my money!" He zipped the bag back up, exasperated.
"Oh, no. How do we get money now?"
He sighed. "I don't know. Maybe...I could get a job?" He stood up, wincing as he moved.
I shot up and let him lean on me, steadying him. "No, I'll find a job You're still hurt." I looked around, trying to find a way to tell the time. "The sun's out, so it should be about time for places to open. I should get going." I sat Lovi down on the bench.
"______, be careful, bella. Ti amo. Please, be safe."
"I will, Lovi." I bent down and hugged him.
"Promise?"
"I promise." With that, I gently kissed his forehead. "You be safe too."
"I will."
Then I walked away, waving goodbye as I went. Why did it hurt, just a little, but enough to notice, when I left Lovi? I never wanted to leave him...but why did it hurt? I didn't know, but I got the feeling I'd know pretty soon.

I searched the streets of town, looking for a 'help wanted' sign in a shop window. Finally, I found an opening in a small boutique. I walked in, a bell announcing my presence.
A woman with a light blue smock came out from a back room. "Hello, please feel free to look around."
"Actually, I'm here about the job opening. My-" Oh, how could I describe Lovi? Friend? Boyfriend, might I dare? "My friend and I are new around here and we need to make some money."
"Great! Just a few questions first, though. What's your name?"
