You woke up excited this morning. You were going out shopping with Antonio, your best friend and secret crush (Shh!). Quickly, you got dressed in (fav. outfit) and rushed out the door.
You got to your meeting place earlier than expected, so you sat on the edge of a nearby fountain and watched the clouds float across the sky. Large clouds gathered in the distance. 'I hope it doesn't storm...' you thought, shivering. 'I really hate them. The thunder and lightning is scary.'
Suddenly, Toni popped out of nowhere, tearing you out of your thoughts. "Hola, _____! You ready, querida?"
"Yeah, Toni! Let's go!" You jumped up, linking your arm in his, and started walking through town.
~~Time skip to random shop~~
You walked up to the counter, placing your merchandise next to the register, Toni flanking you. A middle-aged woman with graying hair rung up your items.
"You look like such a cute couple!" she said, bagging the purchase.
You felt your face heat up as you hastily replied, "Oh, n-no! We're not a couple, just friends." Glancing over at Toni, you saw that his face was also a bright red, but the was a flicker of hurt in his eyes. Did he...? No. That wasn't possible.
"Mmhm." she muttered disbelievingly, looking from you to Toni. "Whatever you say."
You quickly exited the store. The sky had grown dark and a storm was obviously brewing. Toni shrugged it off as nothing, but you immediately began worrying. Toni didn't know you were afraid of storms...
You walked over to an ice cream stand and ordered two ice creams, trying to keep your mind off of the approaching storm. You pulled out your wallet. Toni stepped up beside you. "Hey, I'll pay this time, querida." He said, flashing you a smile.
"O-okay..." You said quietly, taking a small step back. "I'll pay you back, okay?" You rummaged absentmindedly through your shopping bag.
Toni handed you your ice cream when a sudden flash of lightning and rumble of thunder reminded you of your fear. You dropped your ice cream and just stood there, frozen in terror.
"______...? ______~?" Toni asked, waving a hand in front of your face. Mentally shaking your head, you snapped out of your daze.
"Sorry, Toni. I'm back." You chuckled nervously, trying to mask your fear.
"______ are you-" Toni started but was cut off by another loud clap of thunder. You squeaked and ran, wanting to get out of the storm. It started raining, sprinkling at first, then pouring. Toni chased after you, calling your name.
"______! ______! ______, please wait!" Desperate, you ran as fast as you could, but Toni was faster. He stopped you and pulled you under a tree, out of the rain.
"_______... are you afraid of storms?" he asked seriously, gazing deep into your (e/c) eyes. You nodded slowly. "You should have told me! I wish I'd known, the we wouldn't be in this mess."
"I know, but it's a silly fear. I was afraid you'd laugh at me." You admitted, feeling your cheeks flush.
Toni placed a hand on your shoulder and cupped your cheek in the other. "Now why would I do that, querida?"
"I...I don't know. I just thought-" You were suddenly cut off by soft lips on your own. In shock, you merely stood there for a moment until he pulled away.
"lo siento, ______, if you don't feel the same way..."
"Oh, but I do. Te amo, To-EEP!" Another lightning bolt struck, causing you to hide your face in Antonio's soaked shirt. He chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around you. "Don't worry, querida. I'll protect you. Now let's go inside."
You nod as he picks you up bridal style and carries into the nearest building- an old abandoned church. He laid you down on a pew, your head in his lap.
You start to say something but he shushes you. "Go to sleep, ______. I'll be right here. Nothing bad will happen."
"Thank you...Toni..." You mutter before falling into a deep sleep, forgetting about your fear of storms.
After he was sure you were asleep, Toni leaned down and softly kissed your lips and whispered into your ear. "Te amo, ______...I'll keep you safe."
You smile in your sleep as Toni makes himself comfortable and falls asleep as well, a protective arm around you.
